Between the 2020 presidential election and the 2022 midterms, more than half of the top election officials in Nevada’s 17 counties left their jobs. A common reason? Experiencing multiple threats of violence.

There is no guarantee that the next election will be any less contentious (the odds are certainly against it), but a new law just signed by Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo provides protection for these officials that was not there before. Now, those who harass, intimidate or use force on election workers performing their duties could face up to four years in prison.

Other states have taken similar steps to better protect election officials in recent years, including Maine, Vermont, Washington, New Mexico and Oklahoma. But it’s fair to say that every state has noticed  an increase in threats and intimidation against those with some connection to the electoral process.

The Internet Makes Harassment Easier

Sadly it’s much easier to threaten an election worker now, because their home address, cell phone number and other personal information are available online to anyone who wishes to find them. That’s why the Nevada law also makes it a felony to disseminate personal information about an election worker without their consent.

Will That Solve the Problem?

Not by itself. The most effective way to protect election workers is not to wait until after a threat has been issued, or someone has been physically assaulted. That’s when a law like Nevada’s would kick in, and being aware of the penalty may indeed stop some would-be attackers from going through with it. But if knowing something was illegal was enough to dissuade everyone, there wouldn’t be any crime.

Removing the home addresses of election workers from the internet reduces, and in most cases eliminates, the possibility of those with a grudge being able to carry out their threats.

That’s what we do.

Why Trust Us?

Your full name and address may appear on thousands of websites, not just those that specialize in “people-finder” services. We track them all. When we find content that shouldn’t be there, we don’t just let you know and expect you to do something about it – we take direct action to make sure that content is removed.

We cover residing family members as well, because someone determined to go after a person they have targeted will also try to locate them through the online profiles of spouses and children.

For members part of our Premium program, we provide VPN (through NordVPN), VoIP numbers, email aliases, and other additional security measures that help to keep your private data secure. Such preventative steps lower your online footprint, which means there won’t be as much content to track down and remove.

If you're experiencing an active threat, we provide emergency support to address the situation. We go above and beyond what every other company provides in these situations.

We are the only company that delivers all of these safeguards – and more.

If you are an election worker, in Nevada or anywhere else, we would welcome the opportunity to put our service to work for you.
