ORANGE, Calif. — Serving as a judge has never been without risk, and that risk level has only increased in this era of “doxing” – when a person’s address and other personal information can be found on any number of websites.

360Civic has announced a webinar that will focus on best practices for judges and court personnel in protecting themselves against online threats – and those who may carry them out.

This free webinar will be held on March 30 at 11 AM PST. You may sign up to attend here

“Judges make decisions every day that may put them at risk, especially in high-profile cases that generate media headlines,” said 360Civic CEO Ron Zayas. “And unfortunately, finding out where a judge lives is easy to do, because companies sell the personal information of millions of people without their knowledge, and with no regard for their privacy or safety. Our webinar will offer best practice solutions for staying safe online, as well as strategies to avoid phishing attacks and other email scams.”

Laws in California and other states allow judges to request the removal of their personal information from websites, though this can be a time-consuming process and one that must be conducted regularly to identify new occurrences.

At the webinar, 360Civic will provide details on its online security monitoring service, which monitors and removes such content 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The program includes daily searches of any instances of privacy violations protected by statute, and actions to ensure information removal, including referral to the state Attorney General’s office and additional legal action.

“For almost 10 years, 360Civic has been a leader in protecting personnel in the legal system by ensuring that their personal information is removed from websites,” Zayas said. “We look forward to the opportunity to share solutions that will help those not enrolled in our program protect themselves from the dangers of doxing.”
