Recently, Google added an option for users to opt-out of their private information being shown in search results. However, it is important to understand that this does not provide you with a sufficient level of protection against your address and your phone number is easily accessible online.

Why Google Did It

Spurred by GDPR and California Privacy legislation, Google has been under increased pressure to police the publication of private information on its search engine.

One of the reasons we offer extended protection to the families of police officers and judges is to reduce the number of incidents of online violence against women. Sadly, some of these are merely the first step to physical violence - but these threats can be neutralized when home addresses and phone numbers are not accessible on the internet.

Midterm elections are just months away and the country is as divided as ever on politics. As a result, election workers with vivid memories of the contentious 2020 vote are fearful of more threats and intimidation. 

That’s why our team is supporting State Senator Josh Newman’s introduction of SB 1131, a bill designed to provide protection and peace of mind to election workers in California. The bill provides these public servants with the option of keeping their home addresses confidential.

Recently, our IronWall360 team reached out to one of the major metropolitan police departments receiving online privacy protection and asked members to respond to a brief survey. It is important for us to know that we are providing the best service possible to those who protect and serve us.

“We’re Coming To Your House”

That was the threat recently issued by a group called ShutDownDC to Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Why it was issued is unimportant. Some will agree with the goals of that group and some will not. But there should be no disagreement over the potential danger in this type of situation. You don’t want people with a complaint or cause gathering outside the place you live and raise your children.
